UPAS proudly hosts traditional Ukrainian “Vechornytsi”, which has become a celebration of music, dance and folk tradition. The event provides incredible experiences. Live music, song, dances, humour, and folk games create a festive atmosphere, making the Vechornytsi place feel part of the great Ukrainian family.
Our midsummer celebration in Victoria Park with unyf.alberta — food truck, artisan market, flower-wreath and dance workshops, bonfire, singing and Kupala magic. Admission by donation.
An outdoor spring evening of vesnianky (spring-calling songs), traditional dances and treats around a bonfire. Dress code: Modern Ethno. Admission by donation.
Our theatre partnership with Suzirya Ukrainian Theatre stages both classic Ukrainian drama (Karpenko-Kary’s Beztalanna) and contemporary Ukrainian playwrights (Oleksandr Viter’s Stantsiya). Full season announced on Instagram.
Curated Ukrainian and world cinema, followed by community discussion about the artistic and cultural value of what we watched — with popcorn, hot tea and homemade Ukrainian treats.
This event combines poetry, prose, and live music, promoting Ukrainian art among the diaspora and Canadian audience. Poetry reading, musical performances, literary excerpts and dramatic monologues create a celebration of words and music, touching hearts and helping preserve and spread Ukrainian culture.
Upas successfully conducts acting courses – a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of the theatre. Participants not only learn the basics of acting but also develop confidence, expressiveness and creative self-expression. Voice and body work, stage movement, improvisation, and text work help unlock potential and enchence stage skills
Traditional Ukrainian folk-art workshops — like the Petrykivka decorative painting master class taught by artist Daryna Levytska in time for Mother’s Day.
From time to time we host community fundraisers — like our Vechornytsi supporting UNYF Alberta — where all proceeds go directly back to Ukrainian community causes.

No Ukrainian required, no experience required — our events are bilingual and beginner-friendly. Dress code, if any, is always Modern Ethno.
Most events are bilingual, but theatre performances are in Ukrainian only. Movie Nights and Vechornytsi are especially welcoming to newcomers and those starting to learn Ukrainian.
UNF Hall is at 10629 98 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5H 2N8 — our home venue for theatre performances, Vechornytsi, Movie Nights, Music-Literature evenings and Acting Courses.
Outdoor festivals like Kupala Fest and Bonfire & Spring Songs are usually by donation. Vechornytsi runs around $15 entry. Workshops (like the Petrykivka master class) typically run $20–30 with materials included. Theatre tickets vary by production.
